Summerlin is a master-planned community on the west side of the Las Vegas valley that lies at the edge of the Spring Mountains with Red Rock Canyon to the west. Summerlin contains many hiking trails, over 230 parks, and nine golf courses with its first neighborhood being built in 1990.
Downtown Summerlin is one of the premier malls in Las Vegas. Outdoors, in the heart of Summerlin, restaurants, movies, bars, and community events are always close by. Next-door neighbors, the Las Vegas Aviators play out of the Las Vegas Ballpark. Allegiant Air has its corporate headquarters in Summerlin.
Summerlin was named "the #1 best place to live and play" by National Geographic in 2007 and one of the "Best Places to Live in America" by Money magazine in 2014.
Fun fact: Summerlin was named after Jean Amelia Summerlin, the grandmother of billionaire land-developer and aviator, Howard Hughes. The Howard Hughes Corporation still maintains ownership of the master-planned community along with Downtown Summerlin and the Las Vegas Ballpark.
