Sunrise Manor was formed in 1957 when North Las Vegas was considering annexation of the area. The area is located at the western base of Frenchman Mountain.
The northern border of Sunrise Manor is Nellis Air Force Base with many service members residing in the Sunrise Manor area. Numerous hikes are available and hiking up the actual Sunrise Mountain provides one of the best bird's eye views of Nellis Air Force Base along with Area 2, formerly known as Lake Mead Base.
Locals to the area are within short driving distance to the Las Vegas Dunes to the northeast, where dune buggies can be rented for a fun day out on the sand.
