Whitney
The town of Whitney was established in 1931 and officially founded in 1942. Much of the original land is not within Henderson city limits. The name Whitney was changed to East Las Vegas in 1958 before being changed back in 1993.
The Clark Country Wetlands Park (yes, Las Vegas has a wetlands) is the largest park in Clark County. It is a constructed wetland designed to help purify water runoff with natural water polishing. The park has a nature center with displays about the local plants and animals and is the subject of many field trips. The park also contains miles of walking paths.
Whitney is the home to Sam Boyd Stadium, the second home of the UNLV Rebels college football team and other various events throughout the year such as the AMA Supercross Championship.
